Five Card Stud – How to play
This game adheres to the structure found in ‘7 Card Stud’ the only exception being the use of only 5 cards and not 7.
Players are dealt four cards in five consecutive rounds and must attempt to make the best Poker hand they can.
The game starts with each player putting in a small ante. The players are then dealt three cards each, two face down and one face up. The player who has the highest value ‘up’ card then must commence the betting by making a forced bet, known as the ‘bring in’.
Play now moves in a clockwise direction with each player calling the bet, completing the bet (raising to the lower limit) or folding. Players must adhere to a limit of three re-raises in each round.
After this, any player who still remains in the game is dealt another ‘up’ card. As before each player now make their betting choices, beginning with the player who’s ‘up’ card makes the best hand.
Once again another ‘up’ card is dealt and is followed by the remaining players making their bets.
Another round follows with all remaining players being dealt an ‘up’ card and then making their bets once again. Following this is the showdown!
At this point in the game each player must try to make their best 5 card poker hand with the seven cards they have been dealt. The player with the best hand takes the pot!
